This original acrylic on canvas was inspired by my love of history, wildlife and fantasy as well as living for many years in close proximity to Portsmouth Dockyard. The stern of the ship "Maximouse" is based on the incredible detail evident on the stern of HMS Victory, Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar. The mice are depicted in many roles including carpenters, engineers, painters, block makers and riggers. As ever, I have really enjoyed adding the minute details. The original framed canvas will be on display at the Portsmouth & Hampshire Art Society summer exhibition in August 2025.
